Anodizing

Anodizing is an electrochemical process that forms a protective aluminum oxide coating on the surface of the aluminum product. Aluminum oxide is hard, durable, weather resistant and, since it develops from the base aluminum through the anodizing process, it cannot flake or peel. The coating may be colored by dyeing. An anodized coating is especially good for aluminum used in high traffic areas where the coating may be subjected to abrasive cleaners and repeated use.
